"Lost in Collaboration" is a fiber piece that includes freehand machine stitching and was the first of this series that represents my past painter life and work. As a painter I would layer images on top of each other, using the overlay method of revealing parts of what I am covering up and leaving a relationship between the images. This piece begins this journey in my current media of fibers.
A reclining figure is a freehand machine stitched drawn on pink cotton that is then appliqued and reinforced stitch on to Toile decor fabric. Two trees are also freehand machines stitched directly on the toile fabric. The dead Common Goldern Throat is a freehand machine stitched, layering colors to create the illusion of depth with thread on raw canvas. Pieces of red felt are appliqued to direct the viewer's eye to the conversation of the man with the felt circle hiding his head and the toile bird.
The Final piece is stretched onto an 18" vintage wooden embroidery hoop. A wire is on the back for hanging. The piece is signed and dated.
The piece measures 18"' x 18".
